FORBID WEBSITES FROM STEALING YOUR KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS

2022 February 07 | 0 comments

This is something that infuriates me so much:

Your website is NOT entitled to my keyboard shortcuts! If you think it is, you’re WRONG!

I’m especially talking about Ctrl-T, Ctrl-K, /, Ctrl-W (especially!). You! Are! Not! Entitled! To! These!

Unfortunately, Firefox allows this by default, which is stupid in itself. I finally found how to fix this globally, not just on a per site basis:

  • Go to about:config
  • Search for permissions.defaults.shortcuts
  • Set it to 2

I repeat this here again because it’s so important: YOU! ARE NOT! ENTITLED! TO! OVERRIDE! DEFAULT! BROWSER! SHORTCUTS!
